Masters of social skills, those with status are known not just for their deeds but for their ability to influence people around them.

Description

Status encompasses more than just titles- it's fundamentally about the ability to effectively lead and influence others. While fame and external support (like notoriety and government backing) can contribute, they are not sufficient on their own. True status lies in the capacity to mobilize people towards a shared goal, whether that be a collective vision or individual ambition.

This role-playing skill, originally designed for portraying figures in foreign governments, has broadened in scope. It now encompasses individuals who exist at the intersection of fame, backing, influence and social ability. While it shares some overlap with actual roleplay skills such as being charismatic and real-life social prowess, it distinguishes itself by focusing on the ability to build and maintain power structures. In the Novitas setting this skill is still central to portraying characters with noble titles, but its applications have extended far beyond aristocracy.

Status players gain the ability to call meetings that can grant various abilities such as giving those present polyglot, preventing characters from lying by imposing the truthful condition, and casting helpful effects on multiple people. High-level Status characters also gain a coin stiped at check-in.

Status 1 (Beginner)

Once per event after talking to other characters for a minute (outside of combat), you may declare a meeting that uses one of the following abilities. The ability is chosen by the player upon taking this rank and can be changed once per year at Founder's Feast.

  • Create a sanctuary field that doesn't have a duration and automatically Magic Locks any doors or windows on the building you are inside of.
  • All individuals present at the start of the meeting benefit from the effects of the Polyglot ritual for 10 minutes.
  • Grant immunity to poison damage and the poisoned condition for 10 minutes to 6 willing individuals present.
  • Declare a Truthful meeting. For 10 minutes, any number of willing individuals present at the start of the meeting gain the Truthful condition. Non-willing participants must declare they are not participating.

Status 2 (Trained)

For each rank of Status you have, you may throw a no-incant 'Charm Humanoid!' or 'Silence Humanoid!' tag bag 2/event in any combination.

Status 3 (Proficient)

You may call a meeting 2 total times per event. You also gain an additional option when using that ability, chosen by the player when taking this rank. This can be changed once per year at Founder's Feast.

  • For 10 minutes, 6 willing people present may cast a no-incant Dissipate with no power point cost at any time.
  • For 10 minutes, 6 willing individuals present gain immunity to Compulsion magic.
  • You may cast a touch spell of level 3 or lower that you know, using your own power, with a target of character and have it affect 6 individuals present. These individuals may reject the spell should they wish.

Status 4 (Expert)

Gain 25 coin at check-in.

Status 5 (Master)

Work with Rules staff to create a custom ability.

Pure Cognizance

You are immune to the following conditions: Charmed, Silenced, Dominated, Lost Memories, and Truthful.
