Terminology

Term Name: Rules Committee

Description: The Rules Committee maintains the rules for the game, adjudicates complications, and watches for unsafe situations.

Abbreviation or Synonyms: Rules

Rule Type: Out-of-Game

It's a challenge keeping the rules clear and consistent.

Purpose

The Rules Committee is responsible for:

  • Maintaining the rules to the game
  • Updating rules periodically or as deemed necessary
  • Determining what happens in unusual rules situations, and letting players know the results
  • Maintaining the balance of all the different mechanics
  • Deciding what loot should be in the game
  • Designing Feb Feast items
  • Updating the Wiki as needed

The First Marshals (Christina Mevec, James Vertucci, and Ryan Green) lead the Rules Committee.

Volunteering

Members of the Rules Committee meet regularly between events to discuss new items (such as Rituals, Tinkering Items, or Alchemicals), new creatures, and other concepts to keep the game fresh and exciting.

They also use these meetings to discuss large-scale updates to the rules, which generally are unveiled and take effect at Feb Feast.

The Rules Committee does not seek volunteers; it consists of staff and selectively invited players.
