Keeping players informed and safe is an important job.
Purpose
The Player Outreach and Education workgroup is in charge of recruiting and training new players. They should be the first to greet new players when they introduce themselves online and they run the new player speech at game (often called the newbie speech). After a new player speech new players are also generally brought on some sample plots by Player Outreach & Education as well. The staff of Player Outreach & Education also work with long term players to keep them up-to-date on information, to find out who is ready to join a work group, and they know which work groups need additional volunteers. Player Outreach & Education also gather player feedback to help staff hear the voices of the players. During the game members of the Player Outreach & Education Work Group watch for unsafe situations, and inspect weapons, shields and armor for safety. They periodically act as referees during game play after the action is done to notify players of things they may have missed. This is generally educational, but sometimes they may issue penalties as well if they deem it appropriate.
The marshal for the Player Outreach workgroup is Brandon Febles and the second is Michael Maneri.
Volunteering
Player Outreach can use volunteers who want to help with teaching players the rules. Volunteers are also inspect weapons and armor to ensure they meet safety standards. You can also speak to the Player Outreach Marshal or Second if you want to find out if there are openings on any other workgroup. Volunteers for this workgroup also table conventions and run fighting practices between game events.
