Strategy
Non-martial weapons are not generally useful in combat. They are mostly used inside close quarters or when you catch someone completely by surprise.
Martial Weapons are the most commonly used type of melee weapon. Popular with shields or sometimes dual wielding.
Great Weapons are best when fighting with a group of allies to keep close range attacks away. Another popular tactic with Great Weapons is to cast Ruin on them to destroy shield walls from afar. Generally people wield great weapons only because they specifically wish to.
