Chosen of Draconus Role-Playing Skill

Character Skill

Roleplaying Skill

Chosen characters have earned the attention of the gods through their actions. Not every Chosen agrees with the god who supports them, though they will need to come to terms with it eventually if they wish to advance their rank. As one of the Chosen it is a character's duty to make that God's presence felt by others; that God has selected those characters as their agents in the world to carry out their agenda. Before deciding that your character is chosen, it is recommended that you read that God's relevant worldbook section to understand their impact on the world.

Description

Chosen of Draconus are expected to find their own path. Commitment to personal goals and individuality are critical concepts for those who are worthy of Draconus’ notice. Each chosen creates their own mysteries whether this is through prophecy, ritual practices, or simply insane rambling. Because of this, the Chosen of Draconus are never exactly what they seem.

Failing Draconus is to be subjugated, normalized and made fully transparent. It is unclear if he offers forgiveness, or if he even cares that much when it happens. Some maintain that those out of Draconus' favor no longer benefit from his patronage rather than see direct punishment due to the situation.

Those Chosen by Draconus gain various spellcasting buffs.

Chosen 1 (Beginner)

The Chosen of Draconus gains the ability to cast any level one spell they do not know with no skill point cost, chosen when this skill is taken. If they later choose to learn that spell via skill point, they may choose another spell.

If the Chosen knows all level one spells, they instead choose one of them to be a signature spell. Once per game day, the Chosen can cast the signature spell with no incant and no power point cost. This stacks with the signature spell provided by the Maven 4 ability, meaning you could potentially select the same spell twice for two total casts of that spell.

Chosen 2 (Trained)

Pick any level two spell when this skill is taken. For each rank of Chosen of Draconus the Chosen possesses, they may cast the spell once per event with no power point cost.

Chosen 3 (Proficient)

The Chosen of Draconus gains an additional pool of 8 power points per event. These points break cap and can be used by the Chosen themselves, or they can role-play gifting them to another character to use.

Chosen 4 (Expert)

The Chosen of Draconus can cast any level 4 spell once an event with no power point cost.

Chosen 5 (Master)

Work with Rules to create a custom ability.

Sample Master Chosen of Draconus Abilities

Aspect of War

May throw a tag bag or replace one attack per event with 'Smite!'. Become immune to 'Smite!' calls.

Urgent Exorcism

Twice per event, you may Sanctify a building you are currently occupying for the remainder of the game day.

Deep Dive

Choose a spell when you learn this ability, it now costs -1 power point to cast. This only stacks with a master's staff.

Rote Memory

Choose a spell when you learn this ability. You now always cast that spell with no incant.

Energy Flux

The chosen gains a pool of 10 power points per event which break cap in addition to the ones granted from the Chosen 3 ability. They may use them themselves or grant them to others at any time.

Shrines

A shrine is an object (or group of objects) that represents a single one of the gods. Each gods' shrines have a different item number.

As a non-lootable item that can be placed anywhere, a player could in theory put a Darkness shrine right in the middle of town and there is nothing anyone could do about it. Don't do this. Any Shrine dedicated to any god placed in a deliberately hostile location will draw the ire of the gods. Expect there to be consequences from YOUR DEITY. Shrines belong in sacred sites, locations with some association with the deity. That association could be somewhere important to you, or your home, but places where a shrine will be regularly greeted with direct hostility don't create the reverence the shrine is supposed to generate.

Consecrating a Shrine

Shrines can be set up in any location but must then be consecrated with the consecrate ritual before they can be used. Once consecrated a shrine cannot be moved. When a shrine has been consecrated tie a blue ribbon to the shrine, this is the only reason a blue ribbon should ever be attached to a shrine. Consecration lasts between events and so the blue ribbon should stay attached between events as well (the shrine must be placed in the same location each event as long as it remains consecrated). Tie the ribbon on securely, but make sure it can be removed.

Desecrating a Shrine

Using the Desecration ritual, others can deconsecrate the shrine removing the ribbon. The owner of a shrine may also voluntarily remove the ribbon without a ritual. This would typically be done because they wish to move it to a new location. When either of these things happen the shrine must be reconsecrated using the Consecrate ritual once more before it can be used again.

Activating Shrines

Any Chosen of the god the shrine is dedicated to may pray at a consecrated shrine to activate it.

When activated if the shrine is in a building a Septly shrine create a Sanctified field. Shrines dedicated to one of the Dark 3 create an Unhallowed field. Finally, shrines dedicated to Draconus can do either.

When activated while outside of a building all shrines produce a Sanctuary field regardless of deity they are dedicated to.

The field created lasts as long as the Chosen is praying, and thus can't be dispelled (the effect would end and immediately begin again because the prayer is still ongoing).

Chosen Created Shrines

Anyone with the Chosen RP skill may craft a single shrine for free with no crafting point cost or skills required. This may be done once ever, during pre-production for any event of the players choosing. Additional shrines must then be crafted as normal.

This free shrine is automatically consecrated for free once when it first enters play, but if it becomes deconsecrated, it must be reconsecrated normally.
